Wachovia Bank used to a powerhouse bank until the financial crisis emerged. During the end of the housing boom, Wachovia purchased Golden West who rallied during the market with option and no interest Mortgages. This led to the demise of Wachovia Bank which eventually had to merge with Wells Fargo.
